You are hereFood Poisoning
You'll often hear of people being beset by food poisoning. This type of infection can be a mild sickness or it could even cause death. Food poisoning, like the title implies, is received from eating or drinking contaminated food. And there are about 250 cases of known pathogens that can be in food. The Center for Disease Control also estimates that about eighty one percent of unknown pathogens cause food borne illnesses.
Food poisoning may have been a joke back in your college days when you were using it as a cover-up for a really bad hangover, but the reality is pretty sobering. According to the US Centers for Disease Control, 76 million Americans get food poisoning every year. Of those, over 300,000 require hospitalization and 5,000 actually die. That's as many people dead from food poisoning as from asthma or alcohol poisoning.
